Klassic Coconut was founded under the name VanAmerongen & Son in 1986 by Henk VanAmerongen Sr. At that time the only product sold was sweetened coconut. Within the first year the company had outgrown its facilities and moved to Dundas, ON, into a 3,000 square foot warehouse. Around that same time Klassic Coconut took on two more partners: Henk VanAmerongen Jr. and Peter DeWaard.
In 1989, they had once again outgrown their facility and moved to a new building in Hagersville, that was more than 7times bigger than their building in Dundas. A few years later the building was expanded to include larger shipping facilities.
In 1992, Klassic Coconut created an all new special process for toasted coconut which is now an important part of their product line. One year later they began selling Desiccated coconut.
At first their product was only sold in Canada, but in 1996 they began selling internationally. At this time they also changed their name from VanAmerongen & Son to Klassic Coconut.
In the year 2000 it was once again time to grow with the addition of another production line. Klassic Coconut launched its retail packaging line with great success, and in a few short years had started packaging for some of the world’s largest retailers and food distributers.
Today, Klassic Coconut sells their product brand, and others, all over North America. With the use of strategic outside warehousing they are able to service both the east and west coasts of the continent saving their customers money and while providing them a better product.
Klassic Coconut continues to grow and develop new product equipment and product policy in an effort to provide the best quality products possible. The Quality Control team continually evaluates the company’s Food Safety and Quality Standards to ensure no detail is missed. All this while still maintaining the core quality and family business ideals that has led them this far.
